This calculator handles edge cases that simpler tools miss. It correctly accounts for leap years, month-length variations (28 vs 30 vs 31 days), and the fact that age increments on your birthday, not at midnight. If you were born on February 29 in a leap year, it knows to use February 28 or March 1 as your "birthday" in non-leap years depending on convention.
How Is Age Calculated?
This calculator uses the international standard method for calculating age:
- Exact Age — The number of full years, months, and days since your birth date. This is calculated by comparing your birth date against today's date and accounting for month boundaries and varying month lengths.
- Total Months — Your exact age in years multiplied by 12, plus any additional months. This is the total count of full calendar months since your birth.
- Total Days — The raw number of days between your birth date and today. Leap years are automatically accounted for in this calculation.
- Total Weeks — Your total days divided by 7, giving you the number of full weeks you've been alive.
All calculations are performed locally in your browser — no data is ever sent to a server. The algorithm handles every edge case we could think of, including birthdays that haven't occurred yet this year, cross-year boundaries, and the tricky February 29 case.
